The 4th International Dry Toilet Conference

We are preparing the 4th International Dry Toilet Conference. The deadline for submission of abstracts and posters was 31 January. The Scientific Committee is peer reviewing the abstracts at the moment. Notification of abstract acceptance and request for full version (not obligatory!) of accepted papers will be by 15 March, 2012!

The main theme of the conference is Drivers for ecological dry toilets in urban and rural areas. The topics are as follows:

1. Cultural, gender and social aspects of dry toilets
2. Economy, profitability and marketing
3. Productive sanitation (food security) and energy saving
4. Hygiene and health aspects (including hygiene education)
5. Dry toilet systems, technological options and urban applications
6. Dry toilets' contribution to mitigating and adapting to global climate disruption (including ground water protection)
   
7. Sanitation in disasters and reconstruction
8. Operation and maintenance of dry toilets
9. Legislation: Tools for promoting and controlling dry toilets
   

The abstracts will be accepted by the Scientific Committee.

The conference dates are 22 – 25 August, 2012. The conference venue is University of Tampere, Finland. Companies and manufacturers are invited to participate in the exhibition to be held during the conference. The official language of the conference is English.
